The Ministry of Industry and Trade conducts a review at the end of the period of application of anti-wholesale measures for imported galvanized steel

The late-term review of galvanized steel is also the basis for the investigating agency to collect information and evaluate in more detail the situation of production and business activities of domestic manufacturing enterprises, balancing supply and demand of the market.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has just announced to conduct a review at the end of the period on the application of anti-semitation measures for galvanized steel imported into Vietnam.

Previously, on March 30, 2017, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 1105/QD-BCT on the application of official anti-semitation measures for imported galvanized steel products. The time limit for applying the measure is 5 years from April 14, 2017 to April 13, 2022.

Pursuant to The Provisions of Clause 2, Article 82 of the Law on Foreign Trade Management and Article 11 of the WTO Anti-Semitsion Agreement, on June 4, 2020, the Minister of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 1524/QD-BCT on the final review of the application of anti-semitium measures for some galvanized steel products originating from the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Korea.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade conducts a review at the end of the period of application of anti-semitation measures of imported galvanized steel.

According to the Law on Foreign Trade Management and Decree No. 10/2018/ND-CP, for the end-of-term review, the investigating agency will comprehensively consider the contents, including assessing the possibility of imported goods being sold off if anti-semitation measures are terminated; the possibility that the domestic manufacturing industry is significantly damaged or threatened with significant damage if the application of anti-semitation measures and other contents as prescribed by law is terminated.

The conduct of the end-of-term review with galvanized steel is also the basis for the investigating agency to collect information and evaluate in more detail the situation of production and business activities of domestic manufacturing enterprises, balance the supply and demand of the market,  price movement of galvanized steel products in Vietnam, especially in the context of strong fluctuations in the steel market.

On the basis of the investigation conclusion, the investigating agency will make a recommendation on whether to continue applying the measure or adjust the applicable level in accordance with the provisions of law and based on the information and practical data collected.
